Our holiday accommodation lies at the heart of the region's cycling trails offering hundreds of kilometres of quiet by ways and forest tracks to explore. Restaurants and convenient watering holes are never far away! For the more energetic cyclist, laid out routes are signposted to guide you throughout the region. Bicycles can be rented as part of your package deal and cycling route maps are available in all our holiday accommodation. During the summer months you are more likely to encounter other cyclists than a car on the myriad of back roads!

The beautiful sailing lake, Velke Darko, is situated 100 metres from Chata Miriam and 2 km from Svetnov Apartments and covers an area of 206 hectares. It is suitable for sailing, windsurfing and swimming or can simply be admired from the walks around its perimeter. Dinghies and canoes can be rented at the yacht club on the shore of the lake. Velke Darko boasts sandy beaches on its far shore and a large marshland area which is protected as a site of Special Scientific Interest.

For the more adventurous who enjoy water sports, why not try some river canoeing. One of the best rivers for this is River Sazava at a length of 218 km. From its source at Velke Darko, it flows through Zdar nad Sazavou and Havlickuv Brod to Pikovice and on into the Vltava River. The nearest put in and take out points to our accommodation are: Zdar nad Sazavou, Pribyslav and Havlickuv Brod. This is a truly wonderful way to spend the day exploring the countryside and villages along the way.

The Czech Highlands offers an endless range of walks for the visitor. Stroll along tracks through mature forests or take to the hills to admire the unique geological rock structures and the beautiful views to be had. The highest hill in the area is Devet Skal at 836 metres although there are others that are almost as high to be conquered.

Golf is increasing in popularity throughout The Czech Republic. There are an ever increasing number of courses opening up in the region. The nearest course to the cottage, a challenging nine hole heath land course lies 20 minutes drive away, offering a stiff challenge and stunning views of the Highlands. At least two driving ranges are also to be found in the area.
