The area of the Czech Republic in which our accommodation is situated is
known as Vysocina. The name Vysocina [Czech Highlands] is derived from
the name Ceskomoravska Vrchovina [Bohemian-Moravian Highlands], a hilly, undulating countryside situated
between the two historical lands of the Czech Republic; Bohemia and Moravia.
Vysocina
reaches over 800 meters in altitude, lying between the two distinct
mountain ranges of Zdarske Vrchy in the North of the region and
Jihlavske Vrchy in the South-West.
The Czech
Highlands region is situated in the very heart of the Czech Republic.
The original virgin forests here were transformed by human activity into
an undulating cultivated steppe, with low hills and valleys, a wealth of
woodland and groves and many picturesque lakes. A mass of cultivated
forest covers most of the highest areas of the region.
Vysocina
boasts a pristine environment. The region may be regarded as an island
of health wedged between the three urban centres of Prague, Brno, and
Vienna. This is why, among other reasons, the Vysocina Region was the
first to become a member of the Association of Healthy Towns and Regions
and acquired the official title "The Healthy Region".
Natural
conditions have scattered the population of Vysocina over seven hundred
towns and villages, interconnected by a rich web of roads. Small
villages near their local centres, which are usually small quiet towns with
a population of three to ten thousand, are typical of Vysocina.
The Czech
Highlands are renowned throughout Europe for their scenic beauty and
tranquility. It is an ideal place for family holidays. The Highlands
Region can offer the visitor the very best in outdoor holidays. It makes
an ideal base for hikers, cyclists, families with children, people who
are looking for holidays in nature and those who simply want to
experience the culture of the area.
For
the visitor who wants to travel further afield, our holiday
accommodation also serves as an ideal base from where to strike out on
adventures throughout the Czech Republic and beyond to enjoy an outdoor
holiday in Europe.
We are, after all, only three hours drive from four other European
nations.
